Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol used to encode the information exchanged between a web server and its users. The practical application of employing an SSL is to secure the info that visitors submit on your site - a login page, a payment page if you run a web-based store, etc. Any data they type in in any box on the Internet site will be submitted securely to the server, so their login or payment information will be protected from being accessed by unauthorized individuals. In general, an SSL certificate needs a dedicated IP address to be set up, which means the overall cost for your online presence will be bigger. While this may not be a problem for a larger firm, it may matter for a non-profit organization or a small web store which doesn't generate big earnings if additional money should be spent. That's the reason why we have taken advantage of an extension referred to as Server Name Indication (SNI) and we have made it possible to use a shared server IP address to install an SSL certificate.

Shared SSL IP in Shared Hosting

Considering that we offer SSL certificates with our shared hosting packages, you can quickly secure your site and use a shared IP address with only a couple of clicks. The option shall be available during the order process, hence if you have a dedicated IP address, you could use it, but if you do not have one and you don't want to pay for this type of a service, you'll be able to use the shared IP, which has been configured particularly for SSLs. The certificate will work in the same exact way as if it had a dedicated IP and the only difference will be that if someone tries to open the IP address as a URL, they won't see your site. As our system features an auto-configuration option, the SSL shall be set up automatically the instant it is issued, so you'll not have to do anything on your end after you approve it. This way, you can have a risk-free and trustworthy site without having to spend extra cash for that.

Shared SSL IP in Semi-dedicated Servers

The shared IP address option is available with all semi-dedicated servers and the setup takes merely two mouse clicks within the hosting CP no matter if you order an SSL from our enterprise or from a third-party vendor. There shall not be any difference in the way the certificate works or encodes the information which your site visitors submit, so your Internet site shall be secure without spending the extra money for a dedicated IP address. The one thing that'll be different is that https://the-shared-IP shall not open your site, unlike https://the-dedicated-IP, but it's unlikely that anybody shall ever try to access your site in this way instead of keying in your domain. We also offer an auto-configuration option for the SSLs purchased via our company and if you select it and you opt to use a shared IP address instead of a dedicated one, our system will set everything up the instant the SSL is approved and issued with no need for any action on your end.
